Anishinaabemodaa

Seven Generations Education Institute, Rainy River District School Board, and SayITFirst entered into a partnership in 2017 to develop The Ojibwe Language Strategy. The main goal of the strategy is to help put Anishinaabemowin back into the homes of the Anishinaabe people.

In early 2019, the Gigidiziiminaanig committee who advises the team chose to rename the strategy Anishinaabemodaa. Through a series of programs and partnerships the Anishinaabemodaa initiative is focused on providing Anishinaabemowin to all families, learners, and instructors. 

Rainy River District School Board

RRDSB is one of the three main partners in the Anishinaabemodaa initiative and is ensures the materials and resources are used in their schools, participates in professional development, and ensures Anishinaabe teachers & students are supported in their language learning. 

Seven Generations Education Institute

SGEI is one of the three main partners in the Anishinaabemodaa initiative and houses their offices in their Fort Frances campus. SGEI also ensures professional development for their staff through the initiative, and works to create language use opportunities whenever possible. 

SayITFirst

SayITFirst is one of the three main partners in the Anishinaabemodaa initiative and ensures ongoing funding sources. SayITFirst also creates professional development opportunities for staff of the initiative, and works to create new programming and resources.

The Northwest Catholic District School Board

TNCDSB is the first school board to join the Anishinaabemodaa initiative since the creation of the project. They ensure that materials and resources are being used throughout their schools, their teachers are participating in professional development, and are actively participating in the creation and funding of further resources. 

Ontario Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education ensures ongoing funding for Anishinaabemodaa – Waking Up Ojibwe programming, employees, and resources. They have been crucial to the ongoing success and expansion of the initiative.
